A 13-year-old boy from Kabul, Afghanistan, made headlines by hiding in the rear wheel well of a KAM Air flight from Kabul to Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport. Despite the extreme dangers of stowing away in a plane’s landing gear — like lack of oxygen, freezing temperatures, and mechanical risks — the boy survived the 94-minute flight.
Details of the Incident
The boy hid in the wheel well of KAM Air flight RQ-4401, which departed Kabul’s Hamid Karzai International Airport at 8:46 AM IST and landed in Delhi at 10:20 AM IST.
The boy was found walking in a restricted area near the plane after landing and was handed over to Central Industrial Security Force personnel.
The boy reportedly did this out of “curiosity,” intending to sneak into Iran but boarded the wrong flight.
The boy was repatriated to Afghanistan on the same flight later that day.
